Robert Kennan, Head of Editions, Europe: “2019 looks to be another
outstanding year for Editions at Phillips. The saleroom was energized and, with
online sales achieving 152 out of the 266 lots sold, the atmosphere was further
fueled with excitement from our online bidders across the globe. We were
especially pleased with the strength of bidding in the Modern section of the
Evening Sale - Picasso, Chagall and Miro remain much in demand. The outstanding
result of the night was the Kusama portfolio, fought for by ten online and ten
telephone bidders. Great prices were achieved for Hockney, Hirst and Warhol
too. These fantastic results mark the strength of the Editions market. Phillips
had strong momentum throughout 2018 and yesterday’s results demonstrate that 2019
is already off to a great start.”
