Nina Piro, Specialist, Associate Vice President, said, “With participation from all corners of the globe, the solid results of Phillips’ first July live auction of 20th Century & Contemporary Art in New York showcase the demand for important works of art in a live auction setting. There was a particularly strong appetite for artworks by Post-War masters, including examples by Robert Motherwell and Paul Jenkins. We were also delighted to see such enthusiasm for emerging artists, with Anna Valdez and Dylan Kraus both soaring past their estimates in their auction debut. New records were also set for several artists, including Gideon Appah, whose Day realized $88,900 against a low estimate of $12,000.”
