Tamila Kerimova, Head of
20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, said: “Building on our success in March in
London and May in New York, we are proud to have delivered a strong season in London
with a Day Sale total of £9.6 million. The middle market remains a vibrant area
for collectors across the globe, and we saw a great depth of bidding for works
by young and emerging artists. Notable prices were achieved for KAWS, Nicolas
Party, Dana Schutz, Eddie Martinez and Oscar Murillo, this year’s Turner Prize
nominee. We’re pleased for the result achieved for William Kentridge, whose exhibition
A Poem That Is Not Our Own is currently
on view at the Kunstmuseum in Basel. A series of records were established
throughout the auction, including a new world record for Asli Özok. We look
forward to July and our first London Online auction titled HEATWAVE.”
