Phillips is honored to support the Barbican's landmark exhibition Basquiat: Boom for Real. This sponsorship forms one piece of our global program of Arts Partnerships, affirming our commitment to the world's leading cultural institutions.

The first large-scale U.K. exhibition of the work of American artist Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988), Basquiat: Boom for Real draws more than 100 works from international museums and private collections. On view will be a dynamic selection of canvases, works on paper and artist ephemera in addition to a partial reconstruction of Basquiat's first body of work exhibited in the watershed group show New York / New Wave at PS1 in 1981. Curated by Dr. Dieter Buchhart and Eleanor Nairne, the exhibition focuses on the prodigious self-taught artist's relationship to music, media, film and television. Phillips Berkeley Square will also host a breakfast panel on the artist's legacy, featuring writer Ekow Eshun and Barbican curator Eleanor Nairne, moderated by Arnold Lehman, Brooklyn Museum Director Emeritus.
