Born in the village of Khagaul in Bihar, India in 1960, Subodh Gupta creates deceptively simple sculptures made of everyday objects that refer to daily Indian life and stereotypes, rapidly changing routines in a global economy, and cross-cultural exchanges. The current lot is comprised of antique Indian copper pots, items that were at once commonly used as symbols of his heritage, but presented in an elevated manner as a work of art.
