  • Catalogue Essay

Lang & Heyne was founded in the historical German city of Dresden in 2001 by two talented young watchmakers Marco Lang and Mirco Heyne whose philosophy was to create hand-made timepieces of the highest quality in the purest of Saxon tradition.

Quite rapidly the duo found a cult following with order books full years in advance. Collectors had recognized the incredible talent and craftsmanship of the young brand.

The present Friedrich III is in fact a custom order as it features only two lugs versus the habitual three lug design found in the Lange & Heyne collection. The inhouse caliber VI presents a cavalcade of details rarely-if ever- found in timepieces at this price level:

    - The plates, bridges and balance cock are given a fine grainy appearance then gold plated
    - Each screw is meticulously hand polished and blued, the workshops produce less than 15 screws a day!
    - Every wheel is made of gold with chamfered spokes which run precisely and with the least possible friction.
    - Gold chatons in the purest Saxon tradition
    - Hand engraved balance cock
    - Diamond end stone

The Friedrich III is incredibly subtle and elegant with immense wrist presence that can’t go unnoticed. Its sophisticated design combined with its incredible movement and the fact that it comes with a black dial, a silver opaline dial and two sets of hands in white gold and rose gold offer enormous combinations for the discerning collector.
