Underground was an artist collective who were greatly influenced by Andy Warhol's Index Book which was published the previous year to Underground Generation. Published the same year as Provoke, and containing several early photographs by one of the future most leading figures of the group, Daido Moriyama it is seen as the forerunner to this seminal period in Japanese Photo publishing.
