  • Catalogue Essay

In Climate-White Noise, Iñigo Manglano-Ovalle is seen inside one of Mies van der Rohe’s famed Modernist residential buildings in Chicago during a heavy blizzard. The weather conditions led to a complete obfuscation of the view, yielding a horizon-free, all-white panorama that removes the space from any point of reference. By donning the sound protectors, the artist further strips the scene of its context and circumstances, thereby resonating with the landmark building’s own minimalist structure and aesthetic.
