  • Catalogue Essay

It is amazing how Ilya Chichkan can combine in his art the radical and the shocking, the trash and the glamour that abound in the advertising gloss. The anthropomorphic animalism defines the images of many of his photo-, video-, and oil works. He invents various ‘human' stories for rabbits, fish, ducks, and monkeys, sometimes of a psychedelic, Castaneda-like nature, or pseudo scientifictheories like ‘psycho-Darwinism', and shapes them up like a true reality. (ed. Collection Gallery, A. Soloviov, Bloomsday '08 Ideal Century, Kiev, 2008, p. 62)
