  • Catalogue Essay

I think that the notions of irony and cynicism come into being with art but I think that they come into being in its philosophy, having a reflection on life. I think it’s important to have a sense of irony, a sense of detachment but it’s also important to have a simple sense of being as well. Maybe it could be lots of things at the same time. I’m hoping that my work has a sense of humour. It’s difficult because you have to try and find a balance… Ultimately you want to communicate certain thoughts and certain ideas, but for me I do enjoy making the things that I make. I enjoy some of the more pedantic elements of my work.
