    F.P. Journe

    Swiss • 1999

Founded by watchmaker François-Paul Journe in 1999, the F.P. Journe brand is relatively young, but already is as highly regarded by collectors as many distinguished manufacturers with centuries-old heritage. In the minds of the world's savviest collectors, Journe is producing some of the finest wristwatches the market has ever seen. Mastering his craft from restoring historical timepieces, he was the first to create a wristwatch incorporating two escapements that benefit from the phenomenon of resonance — the Chronomètre à Résonance.

Key models include the Résonance, tourbillon wristwatches incorporating a remontoir and the limited edition Vagabondage series. Especially sought-after are his earliest "souscription" watches, made in 1999.

Ref. Chronomètre Bleu
For the first time, F.P.Journe created a cut-out dial that reveals the exceptional, beautiful, 18k rose-gold mechanical movement adorned with guilloche decoration of the Chronometre Bleu. With its blue hour ring featuring Arabic numerals, the 'Chronomètre Bleu BYBLOS' represents the Oriental sun set against a deep Mediterranean blue sky. Another unprecedented characteristic of this model is the 'J' from the Phoenician alphabet in the F.P.Journe logo engraved into the movement. The Phoenician 'J' is the letter 'yodh', that translates to 'hand' and that emphasizes the importance of the skill of handcrafting in F.P.Journe's creations. Furthermore, 'yodh' is the tenth letter of the Phoenician alphabet, consequently alluding to F.P.Journe's 10th Boutique situated in Beirut.
