  • Catalogue Essay

Fouad Bellamine, born in 1950, is an important Moroccan artist who lives and works in Rabat. Born into an artistic family, Bellamine’s father was a painter himself, and as such, he learnt to paint at a very young age. Fascinated by concepts of light, space, dimension and texture, Bellamine’s ethereal, meditative canvases are wholly abstract, shunning the transient objects of material depiction and embracing a pure, ethereal aesthetic that is both thematically universal and visually stunning.
