    “Since starting the series China in 2000, Feng has been concentrating on iconic beauty and making his faked idols assume an element of reality. Auras are shining in the background to glamorize the falsity, while the colours are applied in the paintings like stage lights to embellish the expressions and gestures. At the same time the viewers are entertained and their needs and desires reflected. The helplessly unfocused eyes of the
    idols suggest the emptiness beneath the surface.”
