Pierre Cardin is recognized as one of the founding fathers of modernist fashion.  His bold geometric patterns and sleek forms have become synonymous with the space age aesthetic of the 1960s.  A pioneer in walking the line between exclusivity and mass appeal, Cardin has said, “Only lines count.  I only care for simplicity. Design greatly inspires me whether it be gigantic or microscopic.”  After expanding from haute-couture to ready-to-wear clothing, Cardin was inspired to design a series of high-quality, made-to-order furniture. The bright colors, streamlined shapes and bold silhouettes familiar from Cardin’s work in fashion are hallmarks of his furniture design as well.  His work, which still looks fresh today, attests to the unity of his vision.
