This current lot is likely to be transformed from a lingguan, a unique accessory that is part of the official attire in Qing dynasty. It is of cylindrical shape (sometime tapered) and hollow down like a cigarette holder, used to hold feathers in place on hats of officials. Made of various materials to differentiate between ranking with jadeite being one of the most precious, only senior officials were permitted to wear jadeite lingguan during that historical period. Lot 604 offered in this auction is another example of this traditional jadeite form.
