Since nitrogen is one of the reasons contributing to the yellow hue in diamonds, Type IIa represents utmost purity and makes up only 1-2% of all natural diamonds. Many of the world’s most famous diamonds are Type IIa, including the Cullinan and Kooh-i-Noor.
