  • Description

Some of the rarest and most exclusive sneakers today are those customized by the artist Daniel “Mache” Gamache. For this pair of Air Force 1s, Mache was inspired by Quailman, the imaginary superhero alter-ego of Nickelodeon cartoon character Doug Funnie translating elements of the character’s superhero costume in to his customization. The leather, belt-like ankle strap represents the Quailman’s headpiece, his khaki shorts become laces, his green sweater vest and red cape are reflected in the sneakers’ principle colors and the white toe and sole suggest Quailman’s sneakers. Lastly, the words ‘Fruit of the Loom’ across the Nike swoosh honor the underwear Quailman wears over his shorts. Mache’s work with its clever interpretation of popular culture icons has garnered him an international reputation and a list of celebrity clients, including Jay-Z, Kanye West, and LeBron James.
