‘Personal Survival Doom Buggy (PSDM)', was included in Balincourt's 2005 solo exhibition, "Our Town" at Zach Feuer Gallery. Jules de Balincourt describes the PSDM as "a complete survival pod, stockedwith food, gasoline, water, and state of the art survival equipment...Outfitted and intended for any major emergency, the PSDB is designed to enhance your chances of survival. Your PSDB comes complete with disaster-ready kit. Designed to be of use in protecting you in case of nuclear, chemical, or biological attack, you have at your disposal a gas mask, chemical suit, boots, gloves, and other protective equipment to protect you in case of emergency. If readyness and preparedness are the essential keys to surviving a disaster, the owner of the PSDB has the keys they need in their hands already." In a review of "Our Town", William Powhida writes that the Personal Survival Doom Buggy", a functional-looking ATV loaded with equipment, is a wonderful contradiction. The gas-powered machine looks like a blast, and the possibility of its use suggests adventure more than struggle. The rotating display ad manual implicate the commercialization of survivalist culture.
