  • Catalogue Essay

Born in 1948, John Armleder is a performance artist, sculptor, and painter, whose multi-faceted activities are connected by drawing. Affiliated with Fluxus in the late 1960s and 70s, the value of ephemerality and notion that art is the conduction of creative energy are imperative to his work. Change is a constant and reoccurring element within Armleder’s pieces and is apparent in each of his works. In each of his creations, Armleder ignites something that moves, and this specific movement, individual to each of his works, has an impact on everything else. Changing light, and also changing perspective – every platform allows a different perspective!
