Jack Pierson's work tells a story of everyday life. His photographs, drawings, sign-lettering word pieces and installations combine to tell a tale of isolation and longing. The present lot, one of his neon works, is often seen as an extension of the artist's unique word pieces, and focus on the theme of isolation. With their glowing atmosphere, they are evocative of street life, calling to mind the type of place frequented when alone, or just walking the streets of a big city in various states of melancholy.
Infusing his work with literal and visual references to lost love, sexual longing, faded glamour, fleeting moments and sentimental musings, Pierson's work continuously finds itself in a state of discovering and developing always searching for new means of expression.
