Initially launched in SIHH 2012, the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon Extra-Thin Openworked was only available encased in platinum. In 2016, the yellow gold version was introduced and in the following year another two case materials were available in pink gold and stainless steel. With a heritage already in manufacturing openworked wristwatches, the first skeletonized timepiece manufactured by the firm was a pocket watch dating back to 1926. Forward half a century, and more than a decade after the initial launch of the Royal Oak, Audemars Piguet introduced the first ever skeletonized Royal Oak wristwatch in 1986.

With an aim of achieving perfect balance on the dial and utilizing “negative spaces” through its transparent areas, it enhances the visibility and architecture of the movement. Proudly, displaying its precisely finished caliber, the cal. 2924 was built for the reference specifically. With the dial and caseback fitted with sapphire crystal, the 41mm diameter extra thin Royal Oak case is a perfectly executed canvas to display the artistry of the caliber. Extremely attractive, with roots to its heritage of traditional openworked watchmaking and encased in the most iconic case ever manufactured by the firm. The present example in yellow gold and complete with all the accessories is without a doubt a serious and the perfect contender for collectors seeking for a complicated iconic wristwatch.
