Harm van den Dorpel is a key figure in the Post-Internet Art movement. His practice, which includes sculpture, collage, animation, and websites, explores notions of complexity, lineage, and aesthetic hierarchies. Untitled Assemblage (tear) comes from his "Assemblages" series, in which he configures layers and fragments of images into spherical structures. Each work defines itself in relation to previous ones, highlighting the recursive nature of his artistic development. Dorpel writes: "It's fine for there to be complexity. We don't need to solve it."
