  • Catalogue Essay

Following the in foot steps of actionism, the present lot reflects the rejection of art as a commodity. The papier-maché piece does not function like the interactive pieces that Franz West is famous for, but instead embodies a fresh form of autonomous sculpture that cannot be commoditized. The theme of autonomy breaking away from commodity conveys a meaning of "the purely visual experience of an artwork" that goes "beyond the purely optical and include tactical qualities as well."
