Despite the global challenge of the novel coronavirus, we at Phillips have been proud to witness the art market’s resilience even in the most difficult of times. The season thus far has brought strong engagement across categories in online-only auctions, with many more to come in June and July. Private Sales have also been a key area of focus, with year-over-year growth of 33% for sales of art and design. In addition to the already-extant Perpetual online watches boutique, we’ve recently added an online viewing room for works of art as well as Flawless, our jewels private sales platform.

We are carefully monitoring the latest guidance from local governments on when and how our global offices and galleries may begin to re-open. The process has already begun, and in Asia, our Hong Kong and Tokyo offices are fully operational and open to the public by appointment.

We look forward to opening our London galleries on 15 June, where our Design sale will be on view in advance of 19 June’s live auction. To schedule a viewing, please contact the Design department. In continental Europe, our spaces in Paris and Switzerland are also already open. We will be holding our Geneva Watch Auction: XI on 27 & 28 of June, with advance viewing at La Réserve also available by appointment.

In July, we’ll turn our attention first to New York for our slate of 20th Century & Contemporary Art auctions, then to Hong Kong for 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design, Watches and Jewels. Later that month, our typical spring lineup of Photographs, Editions, New Now and Design will follow across New York and London.

We are eager for live auctions, which have always been at the heart of our business, to begin anew. Please refer to our online calendar for the most up-to-date information regarding sale dates for auctions in all categories and locations.

At this time, we wish all of our clients and friends good health, and we look forward to meeting once again in our galleries and auction rooms.
