Phillips is proud to be a sponsor of “Stand together through thick and thin,” a charity auction initiated by the HOW Art Museum, Shanghai, and co-sponsored by Yitiao, Modern Media, Art021 and other major art institutions in China and abroad.
At this difficult moment, the outbreak of a new strain of coronavirus in China has sent the entire country--and indeed the entire world--into crisis. Behind each confirmed case of the COVID-19 virus are the fragile lives of individuals and families. In the face of this epidemic, we applaud the courageous efforts of medical professionals, scientists and ordinary citizens to combat the virus and keep us all safe. During this grave moment, any effort no matter how large or small has the potential to make a real difference in people’s lives as we fight this epidemic, and we firmly believe the art world has a responsibility to our community to step forward and take concrete action. In times of trouble, art has the power to inspire courage, and in this time of great grief, art can sprout hope.
With this in mind, all proceeds from the benefit will be donated to the Shanghai Soong Ching Ling Foundation to purchase much-needed preventative supplies required by the 80 schools situated in the affected area.
There will be more than 280 artworks presented for auction, featuring renowned artists such as Jia Aili, Zhang Xiaogang, Zhang Enli, Cai Guo-Qiang, Yue Minjun, Xu Bing, Ding Yi, Fang Lijin and Daniel Arsham, just to name a few. HOW Art Museum will donate over 1 million RMB worth of artworks (30 pieces in total) as the foundation for the auction, with more works donated by participating blue-chip galleries such as Almine Rech, Gagosian, Hauser & Wirth and Perrotin, among many others.
