How to sell in our Editions Sale on 28 March.

Among the highlights in the 28 March Hong Kong Editions Sale: Damien Hirst, The Virtues, 2021, complete set of eight laminated giclée prints in colours, 30 x 24.8 cm.

As Phillips celebrates our 10th anniversary in Asia, we are thrilled to launch our first auction in Hong Kong on 28 March dedicated entirely to Editions. Perhaps you’ve been holding on to a print or multiple, waiting for the right moment to sell?

That time is now…!

Shown here are works by Damien Hirst and KAWS that have already been consigned to this first Hong Kong Editions auction. Your artwork will appear alongside a spectacular array of other properties by among the most coveted artists from both the East and West, which we anticipate will capture the world’s attention. The momentum is with us. This promises to be a great auction for all.

Editions are hot

Over the last several years, there’s been a culminating momentum of appetite for Editions on the global market — especially among Millennials. At Phillips, the palpable increase in the numbers of registered bidders per lot has enabled us to surpass expectations in this category, with many works going for beyond the auction estimate, as we continue to hit one new record after another. There’s high demand now for lithographs, etchings, and silkscreens — but also three-dimensional multiples.

The global picture

Phillips has had impressive success in our New York Editions Sale on 22–24 October and, most recently, in London on 23–24 January, where we achieved astounding sell-through rates of 98% by value and 94% by lot — including many world auction records.

Among the highlights in the 28 March Hong Kong Editions Sale: KAWS, Kate Moss, White Gloves, silkscreen on paper, 2021.

The 28 March Hong Kong Editions Sale

This upcoming auction builds on our global success, but also the tremendous success of Editions in Phillips’ Hong Kong Editions, Design, and Photographs Auctions of 2024, which encompassed such achievements as these — all well above estimate:

  1. Yoshitomo Nara’s 2012 Mori Girl polystone multiple sold for HK$304,800.

  2. David Hockney’s Celia Reading lithograph to achieve HK$107,950.

  3. Yayoi Kusuma x Veuve Clicquot La Grande Dame’s My Heart That Blooms in the Darkness of The Night sold for HK$736,600.

Another of the highlights in the 28 March Hong Kong Editions Sale: Damien Hirst, Hope, from Butterfly Etchings, 2009, etching and aquatint in colours, 30 x 24.8 cm.

On 28 March, collectors worldwide will be hungry for what we present in Asia. They’ve been looking to the East for many generations — mindful that the fine art of printmaking began there centuries ago — and now awakened anew to the vibrant efflorescence of the market for multiples here. The time and the place are right.
