1: Impressive Fancy Yellow Diamond Ring
Impressive Fancy Yellow Diamond Ring, 43.15 carats. Estimate: $550,000–850,000. New York Jewels.
An impressive 43.15 carat old European brilliant-cut Fancy Yellow diamond beams a light into the elegance of bygone eras. This covetable diamond is crowned in a cathedral style mounting and accented by brilliant-cut diamonds. To behold a stone of this size, colour and shape is awe-inspiring and charges you with emotion. The diamond is faceted in an old European brilliant cut shape, which aids in the light return of the stone’s sun yellow glow. A GIA certificate accompanies this outstanding diamond, confirming it is Fancy Yellow, Natural Colour, VS2 Clarity.
2: Unmounted Kashmir Sapphire
Unmounted Kashmir Sapphire, 3.43 carats. Estimate: $150,000–300,000. New York Jewels.
The history of the ancient Kashmir gem mines is legendary. Kashmir sapphires are the most desirable of all. There is no comparison to a gem sapphire from another locale. The ancient gem mine was discovered in 1881 in a very remote location high in the Himalaya Mountains. When production began, news spread quickly of the very large and exquisite corundum crystals being unearthed. But, only a couple of decades later, the initial pocket was exhausted and the “old mine” production dramatically slowed. Since then, the rarity of fine quality Kashmir sapphires has led to great demand. To possess a sapphire of Kashmir origin such as this one on offer is an opportunity not to be missed. This stone, weighing 3.43 carats, is certified by both SSEF and AGL laboratories to be of Kashmir origin and showing no evidence of heat treatment. SSEF designates the colour as ‘Royal Blue,’ which makes this stone a true treasure.
3: Paraiba Tourmaline and Diamond Ring
Paraiba Tourmaline and Diamond Ring, 10.11 carats. Estimate: $150,000–225,000. New York Jewels.
To find a Paraiba tourmaline of this electric blue colour is rare. These gemstones were first discovered in the 1980s. When they started to enter the market, you could only find this copper-bearing tourmaline with neon colour like this in very small carat weights. And, to this day, it is remarkable to discover a stone weighing over 10 carats with this intensity of colour. This connects the stone to its place of origin, Brazil, where these gemstones were first discovered. The market rates Brazilian varieties highest in quality, compared to those from counterpart localities. A top highlight in our sale, this Paraiba tourmaline weighs 10.11 carats, and is accompanied by a Gubelin certificate stating Brazilian origin and evidence of heat treatment, but no further clarity enhancements. The very special stone is framed by two baguette diamonds, weighing a total of approximately 2.5 carats, and further accented with brilliant-cut diamonds in a beautiful platinum mounting.
4: Fancy Vivid Yellow Diamond and Diamond Toi et Moi Ring
Toi et Moi, Fancy Vivid Yellow Diamond and Diamond Ring, 3.61 and 5.03 carats. Estimate: $240,000–. 300,000. New York Jewels.
This beloved Toi et Moi design presents a harmonious pairing of diamonds: a 5.03 carat pear-shaped D Colour diamond and a 3.61 carat pear-shaped Fancy Vivid Yellow diamond. Both are Internally Flawless and have an antique cut, which makes them even more desirable. Set in 18k gold, they are enhanced with brilliant-cut diamonds of both bright white and yellow tint to alternately complement each diamond’s colour. This ring, accompanied by GIA certificates for the two large stones, is a sophisticated and dynamic contemporary design of timeless beauty.
5: Emerald and Diamond Ring
Emerald and Diamond Ring, 3.79 carats. Estimate: $80,000–125,000. New York Jewels.
Emeralds are prized for their colour, clarity, and place of origin. This remarkable 3.79-carat emerald has everything. It is accompanied by a Gübelin and GRS certificate, both stating the emerald is of Colombian origin and has no clarity enhancements. An appendix to the GRS certificate is an impressive Platinum Gemstone Award presentation that distinguishes this very fine emerald’s excellent Vivid Green colour, very good clarity, and excellent cut and brilliance — which it is most worthy of. Now, as we see emeralds continue to surge in popularity, one of this quality is sure to attract many collectors and enthusiasts alike.
6: Fancy Intense Green Diamond Ring
Fancy Intense Green Diamond Ring, 2.11 carats. Estimate: $115,000–170,000. New York Jewels.
Fancy colour diamonds come in many different colours. Among the rarest is green. Interestingly, this colour results from exposure to radiation during formation, which alters the diamond’s carbon crystal structure. The most important value factor in fancy coloured diamonds is their degree of saturation. The least saturated are graded Light, followed by Fancy. This stone — classified as Intense — presents a far more rare and sensational green colour. Weighing 2.11 carats and cut in the most beautiful oval shape — which is one of today’s most desired cuts — it is a wonder to behold and promises to command much interest.
7: Unmounted Fancy Purple-Pink Diamond
Unmounted Fancy Purple-Pink Diamond, 1.63 carats. Estimate: $75,000–100,000. New York Jewels.
Purple-Pink is an increasingly popular variety of fancy pink diamond, which continues to rise in value. These exceedingly rare stones derive their distinct colour from distortions in the structure of the stone that result from intense heat and pressure during the stone’s formation. The colour in this 1.63-carat Fancy Purple-Pink, pear-shaped diamond is evenly distributed throughout, giving it a consistent and inviting colour, as documented in the accompanying GIA certificate. Presented unmounted, this very fine stone would make for an ideal gift for a trendy collector, either as the center stone in a ring of the buyer’s choosing — or appreciated simply by itself thanks to the lovely and vibrant colour.
