New Now Kicks Off the New York Auction Season, Realizing $8.4 Million and Setting New Auction Records
Established names led the way, with spirited bidding causing George Condo’s White + Grey Composition to more than triple its low estimate at $289,800. Works by Yayoi Kusama, Ugo Rondinone, and Shara Hughes also figured prominently in the top ten, standing alongside works by emerging artists. There was fervent enthusiasm for works by Louis Fratino, Danielle Orchard, and Ayako Rokkaku and we were proud to debut works by Ana Benaroya, Louise Giovanelli, and Pat Phillips in the auction, as well. Participation from 55 countries created fierce competition in the auction, leading to new records for Hugh Steers, Ángeles Agrela, and Wes Lang, among others.

An energized saleroom saw 500 bidders from 38 countries worldwide participating in our standalone David Hockney auction on the phone, online, and in the room. With sell through rates of 100% by lot and 100% by value and over 50% of the lots offered achieving world auction records, the auction was a huge success, and we are thrilled with the prices realized for these remarkable artworks.
