In the Studio with Rachel Rossin

We sat down with the artist in Dumbo, Brooklyn to discuss her interdisciplinary work across sculpture, painting, virtual reality, gaming and video. Her newly commissioned piece, Recursive Truth, uses “video game mods” and “deep fakes” to explore loss, memory and truth as a medium. Bugs created inside the work expose the fragility of memory and ultimately destroy the video game or function as visual gags. This work is the second of two commissioned by Phillips in partnership with Daata Editions, and will be on view in New York 8-12 June.
