Design on the Verge: The Haas Brothers

“Humans just have a need to create things and live with them and relate to them. That relationship can be with an object or a picture. We like that relationship. It doesn’t matter what the thing is.” The Haas Brothers, twins Nikolai and Simon, spoke to us on the occasion of their first solo museum exhibition, ‘Ferngully,' opening at the Bass Museum in Miami. Their work effortlessly straddles the worlds of art and design, prizing collaboration with artisans, craftspeople and their respective environments to create objects that defy categorization.
