Wearable Art: In the Studio With Ana Khouri

During one of her early sculpture exhibitions, Ana Khouri—a graduate of Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado in São Paulo and the Gemological Institute of America and Parsons in New York—pivoted into the world of jewelry design. A buyer offered to purchase all of her pieces, on the premise that she interpret them into wearable art, which is how she continues to approach her design today. Her New York studio is a meeting place for distinct bits and pieces that somehow form a cohesive look, befitting a designer who is in ethereal in spirit but tactile in her execution. This month in New York, Phillips will host Jewels Now – Ana Khouri, the first exhibition solely dedicated to the work of the acclaimed contemporary jewelry designer.
