NEW YORK – 27 AUGUST 2015 – Phillips is pleased to announce the highlights for the New Now auction in New York on 17 September. The sale juxtaposes works from a younger generation of artists with works by established artists offering a diverse range to engage seasoned collectors and newcomers alike. Phillips New Now auction – formerly known as Under the Influence – will offer over 250 lots, carrying a total pre-sale estimate of between $4.4 - 6.5 million (£2.8 - £4.1 million / €3.9 - €5.7 million).

Included in the auction are two works by Jonas Wood; Backward Bol (Color), 2008 ($60,000 - 80,000) and Crossword Master, 2007 ($30,000 - 40,000), and two Ed Ruscha works on paper from a Private American Collection, Zero, 1996 and Selma/Vine, 1998 estimated at $70,000 - $90,000 each. The sale also includes a selection of Pop works including, Robert Indiana’s LOVE, 1966-1998 estimated at $250,000 – 350,000. Other highlights include Philip Taaffe’s mixed media on canvas Bardo Triangle, 2009 estimated at $50,000 - 70,000 and Blair Thurman’s neon Spiders from Mars, Prototype / Pink, 2001 at $12,000 - 18,000.

“We are delighted to have a work by Joe Bradley featured on the catalogue’s cover.” says Rebekah Bowling, Phillips Head of New Now Sale. “His Nude (Bust), 2007 estimated at $300,000 – 500,000 is a stunning example of his modular paintings, constructed from different shaped monochrome canvases, this one rendered in fleshy pink vinyl. Continuing to create access for young collectors and art lovers to collectable contemporary art, Phillips is introducing several new artists to auction including Leif Ritchey, Margo Wolowiec, Nick Farhi, and Kevin Beasley.
