The ULTIMATE programme, a curated selection of works only available at Phillips, was a great success, producing the sale’s top 5 records. By value, ULTIMATE VOGUE was 99% sold, ULTIMATE was 96% sold, the private European collection of artists’ portraits was 94% sold and Collection of Paul and Toni Arden was 84% sold. The sale’s biggest surprise was the world auction record of £93,750 against an estimate of £15,000-25,000 for Japanese post-war photographer Masahisa Fukase”
