PHILLIPS OCTOBER PHOTOGRAPHS AUCTIONS REALIZE $4.2 / £2.7 / €3.7 MILLION

WILLIAM EGGLESTON’S ICONIC PICTURE MEMPHIS (TRICYCLE) SETS A NEW RECORD PRICE FOR A DYE TRANSFER PRINT BY THE ARTIST


NEW YORK– October 8, 2015 – Phillips October Photographs sales realized $ 4,228,750 / £2,736,111 / €3,725,055, selling 70% by lot and 70% by value.

“We are delighted with the results from our Innovators of Photography: A Private East Coast Collection and Photographs sales, which included solid prices for William Eggleston, Diane Arbus, Robert Frank and Edward Burtynsky,” said Sarah Krueger, Head of Sale, Photographs, at Phillips. “We are particularly pleased to see William Eggleston’s iconic picture, Memphis (Tricycle), set a new record price for a dye transfer print by the artist.”
