FIRST PHILLIPS AUCTION OF 2015 SELLS 98% BY VALUE AND 91% BY LOT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LONDON – 23 JANUARY 2015 – Phillips London January Evening and Day Editions Auction totalled £2,817,900 / $4,255,100 / €3,663,300 selling 98% by value and 91% by lot.

Visitor figures to the new headquarters on Berkeley Square were significantly larger than those experienced in Howick Place. Phillips saw more than a 650% increase on visitors to the exhibition with over 2,000 people viewing the Evening and Day sales over the course of a week compared to figures in June 2014.

The impact of the move to Berkeley Square was also felt in new clients with approximately 35% new bidders in the Evening and Day Editions Auctions.

“We are absolutely thrilled with the results for our inaugural Editions sale at our new European Headquarters on Berkeley Square. The strong attendance during the pre-sale exhibition carried through to the saleroom yesterday. The expansion of the London team has made a positive impact to our results and we are delighted that our approach to exhibiting and selling prints and multiples has been so well received by the market.” Robert Kennan, Head of Modern and Contemporary Editions, London.
