London – 11 February 2014 – Phillips London February Contemporary Art Auctions totalled £15,002,500 / $24,454,075 / €18,003,000 selling 85% by value and 74% by lot.
The Contemporary Art Evening Sale realised £10,433,250 / $17,006,198 / €12,519,900 selling 86% by value and 78% by lot. The Contemporary Art Day Sale totalled £4,569,250 / $7,447,878 / €5,483,100 selling 84% by value and 73% by lot.
Michael McGinnis, Chief Executive Officer, Phillips said of the Evening Sale, “We are pleased to have opened Contemporary Auction week with the strong result from tonight’s Evening Sale. The auction received global attention and we witnessed competitive bidding for the Wool, Richter and Pistoletto. We are delighted with the great prices achieved for work by young artists and thrilled to have set auction records for Nate Lowman, Mark Flood and Fredrik Vaerslev.”
