London - Phillips de Pury & Company is pleased to announce the highlights from its London Design auction in April. Rare and important pieces by ÈMILE-JACQUES RUHLMANN including a laquered wood Desk with articulating lamp, estimated at £220,000 - 280,000 and a Pair of ‘Hydravion’ armchairs, circa 1923 estimated at £120,000 - 180,000 are also offered. RUHLMANN’S Pair of revolving ‘Tournicol’ side tables, late 1920’s with exceptional provenance from an important New York collection will feature in the auction amongst other outstanding French Art Deco including works by JEAN DUNARD and JEAN-MICHEL FRANK.

An important early group of work by MIES VAN DER ROHE including the only known examples of his MR60 chairs and MR150/3 Tugendhat table in existence by Bamberg Metalwerk Statten, Berlin, circa 1929 – 1931.

Thirteen examples of JEAN ROYÈRE’S work including the ‘Sphere’ coffee table, circa 1939 with an exceptional provenance estimated at £120,000 - 180,000 will be offered all of which will be included in the forthcoming Monographie de Jean Royére, released later this year.

Two significant pieces by DIEGO GIACOMETTI feature in the auction. The Important ‘Bibliothèque au Mexique’, circa 1966 and the brilliant ‘Ostrich’, circa 1977 are estimated at £300,000 – 400,000 and £40,000 – 50,000 respectively.

A Rare Coffee Table, 1952, an Italian collaboration between the acclaimed artist, LUCIO FONTANA, and the architect and designer OSVALDO BORSANI is lot 186 in the sale, estimated at £32,000 – 38,000.

Impressive ceramics also feature in the sale including a collection of lidded vessels by EDMUND DE WAAL and a group of work by LUCIE RIE from the Hawley Collection.
