Design sale to date totaling £4,658,800 / $7,540,734, selling 91% by value and 79% by lot.
The top lot of the sale was
DIEGO GIACOMETTI’S bookshelf, ‘Bibliothèque au Mexique’ which sold for £361,250 / $584,719.
German architect LUDWIG MIES VAN DER ROHE achieves the highest price paid at auction for a piece of design with the
Rare ‘Tugendhat’ coffee table selling for £217,250 / $351,641.
The success of Art Deco designer ÉMILE-JACQUES RUHLMANN, after $1,426,500 was achieved for a pair of “Gonse” armchairs in New York in December 2011, continues to shine through with phenomenal prices achieved across a range of chairs, armchairs, desks and side tables.
Phillips de Pury continues its world record success of selling collections of Contemporary Ceramics with the Hawley Collection.
