The Make It Right Foundation, founded in 2006 by actor and New Orleans resident Brad Pitt in the wake of the Hurricane Katrina tragedy, is a creatively-minded, socially-aware coalition seeking to build affordable, green housing in the Lower 9th Ward — at the highest aesthetic standards, and foregrounded by the needs of neighborhood’s original residents.  Initially, Pitt courted advice from local residents and teamed with Global Green to hold an international architecture competition, generating innovative ideas on how to blend sustainable housing with the cultural nuances of the neighborhood.  International and local architects selected by the Make It Right team to contribute designs solutions include Adjaye Associates, Morphosis, Concordia and Shigeru Ban Architects, among others. Make It Right has set its goal to build 150 affordable, sustainable homes for the displaced community of the Lower 9th Ward.
