  • Catalogue Essay

To commemorate the 175th anniversary of the renowned manufacture, Patek Philippe has created wristwatches, pocket watches and table clocks produced as one-of-a-kind or in small editions to highlight the most legacies of the watchmaking tradition.

The present reference 5089G-023 wristwatch features a finely crafted cloisonné dial depicting three soldiers from the Escalade celebrations. The cloisonné dial with hand-engraved background display strong vibrant colours and perfectly illustrates the most popular festival in Geneva. The watch is produced as a set of three to commemorate the heroic victory in 1602, when the people of Geneva repelled an attack by the Duke of Savoy. Further enhancing the present limited series, the watch is set with sapphire crystal case back protected by a hinged dust cover engraved with 'Patek Philippe Geneve 175e Anniversaire 1839-2014'.

Still double factory sealed and limited to 40 pieces only, the watch is complete with original certificate and fitted presentation box.

Other famous models include perpetual calendars such as the ref. 1526, ref. 3448 and 3450, chronographs such as the reference 130, 530 and 1463, as well as reference 1436 and 1563 split seconds chronographs. Patek is also well-known for their classically styled, time-only "Calatrava" dress watches, and the "Nautilus," an iconic luxury sports watch first introduced in 1976 as the reference 3700 that is still in production today.
