Bruno Mathsson introduced the present model daybed in March 1936 at the Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg, Sweden. The designer’s frst solo museum exhibition also included his now iconic “Work Chair,” “Easy Chair,” and “Lounge Chair.” Produced by Mathsson using laminated bentwood pressed together with a proprietary casein-based
glue, these four models set a new standard for ergonomic design and innovative production techniques. A pivotal moment, Mathsson’s museum debut led to his participation (daybed included) in the Swedish Pavilion at the 1937 Exposition Internationale, afer which he named the present model his “Paris” daybed.
