German photographer Andreas Geeller created the current image by pointing his camera at the cobblestone ground surrounding a lottery kiosk and photographing it at each step he took. Then, Gefeller meticulously collated the hundreds of images into a single, unified scene that is mesmerizing in its clarity and scale. While a distant view of the work renders it as nearly abstract, a closer inspection reveals sharp details—from cigarette boxes to soft drinks containers—that along with the discarded lottery tickets, present a touching, personalized vision alluding to recent human presence.
