Phillips' Design department offers exceptional examples of 20th and 21st century decorative arts and design including functional furniture as well as conceptual works. The department has introduced highly successful and innovative new categories to the auction market including contemporary ceramics and architectural works. The department champions other categories including early 20th century Viennese design, French Modernism, American studio craft, Italian art glass, among others. Recent highlights include the world auction record for a living designer established by the sale of Marc Newson’s 'Lockheed Lounge' in May 2010 for $2.1 million.
